Wild Coast Jikeleza Festival
Take a drive and stay a while to enjoy all that the Wild Coast Jikeleza Route has to offer. One of the main highlight s of the route is the annual Wild Coast Jikeleza Festival - an incredible weekend of sport, entertainment and wildlife.
Described as the "best family-fun festival in the Eastern Cape", the Wild Coast Jikeleza Festival takes place in the fabulous grounds of the Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve, 30km from East London on Saturday and Sunday 28 – 28 July 2012. Gates open at 9am and tickets cost R20 an adult, R10 an adult; kids 5 years and under are free.
A full line-up awaits you! In addition you get the chance to touch an elephant, eyeball a cheetah and go on a mini-game drive All at no extra charge!
There are craft and boutique stalls, a tea garden, an art gallery and a fashion show on offer as well as a beer garden, rugby on the big screen and live music to be enjoyed. Miss Wild Coast Jikeleza Competition including a Wild Coast Jikeleza Chef Cook off and poetjie competition. Kids will be busy for hours taking advantage of the mini quad bike rides, jumping castle, Giant Slide, face-painting, lead rein horse rides, paintball, biscuit decorating, Magic Show, Andre the hilarious hypnotist and more!
There is even something for the Sport folk with a 25km / 50km "Dirtly & Wild "mountain bike marathon through Areena Riverside Resort contact Kiki 0833441179 for additional information .The annual Rhino Run, a 5km / 15 km fun run sets off at 2pm and you'll need to keep your eyes peeled for game sightings that include warthog, giraffe and antelope. Be sure to look out for the daily weigh-in from 4pm of fresh fish coming in directly from the ski-boats taking part in the annual Wild Coast Jikeleza Ski-Boat Angling Challenge.
In conjunction with the annual Wild Coast Festival the Wild Coast Jikeleza Association will be holding it's very first "Wild Coast Jikeleza Bridal Experience " 27th – 29th July 2012. The Wild Coast Jikeleza Bridal Experience will launch with a Cheese, Wine and Fashion show on the Friday night where stall holders will showcase what East London and the Wild Coast Jikeleza route have to offer in terms of wedding venues, flower, décor, cakes, dresses and so much more...
Finally, end off the day with a sundowner in the beer garden and simply savour the beauty of Wild Coast Jikeleza territory ,but it doesn't end there...
Members of the Wild Coats Jikeleza Association will be running fantastic accommodation and meal specials during the duration of the festival.
The Wild Coast Jikeleza route starts just outside the East London suburb of Beacon Bay and ends on the N2 some 30km away. For the most part it follows the T1 Road (also known as Schafli or the East Coast Resorts Road) with several stops on a number of tarred and well sign-posted trunk roads ranging from the T2 to the T10. The route is 99% tarred, in a malaria free pristine coastal area of temperate climate and exceptional natural beauty.
