Self Catering Accommodation
For those not interested in camping, then we offer four delightful self catering options:
Sleeps: 7 | R600 - R1200 per night depending on the season
Cob cottage is a luxury self catering family unit a'la Yellowwood Forest style. This unique, hand built “mud” house is a work of art reflecting the owner’s love of glass, light and nature. The thatch cottage sleeps 4 people (2 couples) comfortably in 2 double bedrooms or 7 (if you don’t mind being squashed) including the double bed sleeper couch in the lounge and single day bed upstairs. The large honeymoon suite is upstairs, via an extremely steep staircase. It has a private deck from which to bird watch and a forest view guaranteed to give one a new perspective of natures varied shades of green! It has a bathroom and toilet as well as an outside, covered hot water shower. The kitchen’s spacious counter is the hub of activity as there is no separate dining area. There is a toaster, kettle, gas cooking hob and an electric oven. Pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glasses etc. are provided.
NB: There is only a small bar fridge for just the essentials. Everything you need can be purchased in Morgan Bay or Kei Mouth and Yellowwood’s Saturday morning markets - so come light and shop local. Whether you come alone or with family and friends you will enjoy the outside living afforded by the deck with its big circular stone pit for fires.
The Bush Camp
Sleeps: 2 | R340 - R575 per day
The Bush camp at the bottom of the campsite is thatched, wooden and particularly rustic. It is positioned perfectly between the trees and a huge Yellowwood, right on the river. It is cool and shaded but gets the best of the afternoon sun just in time for sundowners. The bush camp has survived a number of floods contributing to its weather worn look and the interesting slant the building has developed over the years. Looks are deceptive however - The bush camp is sturdy and comfortable, making it the perfect getaway for relaxing to the sound of flowing water and bird song.
The unit has a small open deck with a table, chairs and 2 plate gas stove and kettle. Three stairs lead up into a single room with 2 big windows from which to view the forest. It has a double and single bed. There is a cupboard containing pots and pans, crockery and cutlery for 4 people. There is also an electric light and a plug point for charging electronics. An added bonus of the Bush camp is that it includes a campsite on which to erect a tent or gazebo at no extra charge and one can park ones car on site. The shared campsite ablutions are approx. 50m away
Sleeps: 2 | R275 - R375 per day
The tiny loft is a cozy thatched room above the gift shop with a bird’s eye view of the trees. It has a very steep stair case, so one needs to be agile and sober. It has a double bed and 2 comfy chairs. There’s an electric light and plug point for charging electronics. The loft is ideal for a getaway where cooking is not part of your plan. Yellowwood’s restaurant can cater for your every need after an active day. Or you can stay put. Bird watch perched on the tiny deck at the top of the stairs or from your bed! The campsite ablutions are used and are approx. 50m away.
Sleeps: 2 | R300 - R375 per day
This comfortable log cabin is situated in the campsite surrounded by a lush lawn and tall trees. It’s small and perfect for that camping feeling without having to put up a tent. There’s a double bed, a big wall unit to pack everything away, an electric light, plug point for charging electronics, a small bar fridge, electric kettle and 2 plate stove. It also has pots, pans, crockery and cutlery for 2. The campsite's circular stone fire pits are right outside so bring your camping chairs and braai under the stars. The campsite ablutions are used and are approx. 50m away.
