Cape Hermes Lighthouse

The charming Cape Hermes Lighthouse looks out over the mouth of the Mzimvubu River at Port St Johns and is over 100 years old. The octagonal structure was built using local granite in 1903 at a cost of around ₤6,000 and was named after the survey ship, HMS Hermes, which charted the local waters. Park at first beach and take a stroll up to the lighthouse to enjoy views of the bay, the town an the Gates.
